THE REVEALING AND RIP-ROARINGLY FUNNY GUIDE TO MAKING EVERY RELATIONSHIP SMARTER, SANER, AND HAPPIER

It's all very simple. When it comes to women, men are profoundly stupid. And when it comes to men, women—no matter how intelligent or mature—are completely crazy. Based on this groundbreaking insight, comedy writers and real-life couple Howard J. Morris and Jenny Lee have devised a relationship guide that is refreshingly honest, completely hilarious, and surprisingly practical. Using their own crazy/stupid romance as an example, they explain why women ask questions they don’t want answered—and why men persist in answering them. Why do guys suck at being romantic? And why does every conversation with a woman lead back to whether or not she’s fat? With wit, hard-earned wisdom, and an entertaining he said/she said format, the authors explore the unwitting method to his dumbness and the valid reasons behind her insanity while providing real relationship solutions and helping couples to reach the place where giving isn’t giving in, needing isn’t needy, and the sexes can break dysfunctional patterns and find a way to live happily ever after.

!1: Best Buy The first thing that I noticed about Women are Crazy, Men Are Stupid: The Simple Truth to a Complicated Relationship by Howard J. Mooris and Jenny Lee is the catchy title. Then, I see the cute cartoon cover. I am not the type that is typically into books that are about relationships. However, something about this book seemed different. My instincts were right. Not only is this book very different, but it is insightful and hilarious!

The authors Morris and Lee are two comedian writers that fell in love. They not only give insight into their relationship, but a lot of the things they talk about relate to most relationships. I often find myself acting crazy for no reason. I have told my husband multiple times in the past "I'm Sorry! I wasn't crazy like this until I started dating you." It is true that love seems to make women crazy. As a woman it is very encouraging to know that their are other crazy women out there. Jenny definitely lays her crazy on the table for all to see and Howard demonstrates his stupid.

This book is mostly written in the format of he writes and she responds. This format seemed to work out well for the book and for their relationship as well. It's always best to let the woman have the last say, especially when it comes to talking about us being crazy. It was nice to be able to hear the argument from both sides and understand what causes some of the crazy and the stupid. Howard and Jenny address everything from past relationships to shopping to expectations. After reading this book, I feel proud of how Howard has learned from some of his mistakes and it gives women hope that their men will see the light. One thing is clear: women are crazy & men are stupid! Ladies, this book is a must read not only for you, but for the men in your life.

God is love. Crazy, relentless, all-powerful love. Have you ever wondered if we’re missing it? It’s crazy, if you think about it. The God of the universe—the Creator of nitrogen and pine needles, galaxies and E-minor—loves us with a radical, unconditional, self-sacrificing love. And what is our typical response? We go to church, sing songs, and try not to cuss. Whether you’ve verbalized it yet or not...we all know somethings wrong. Does something deep inside your heart long to break free from the status quo? Are you hungry for an authentic faith that addresses the problems of our world with tangible, even radical, solutions? God is calling you to a passionate love relationship with Himself. Because the answer to religious complacency isn’t working harder at a list of do’s and don’ts—it’s falling in love with God. And once you encounter His love, as Francis describes it, you will never be the same. Because when you’re wildly in love with someone, it changes everything.

!1: Best Buy Perhaps it is not appropriate to write a review when one has only read the first few chapters of a book. However, while reading some of the negative reviews here I felt compelled and led to write this.

How can any Christian say that Chan's book isn't about God's love when it is stated so clearly by the end of chapter two? The statement that Chan shares - that "He (God) is everything" combined with the knowledge of the Bible verse of John 3:16 is enough to make one realize the "crazy" love that God has for us! Jesus Christ is God's gift of love - and there is no greater love in the universe!

Challenging Christians to FOLLOW Jesus is a great endeavor that each and every pastor should encourage. I suspect that those who object to such challenges may, in fact, be feeling some guilt within their own soul and spirit ( I certainly have!) for lacking what Chan is describing as ways to more openly follow Jesus? It's a sobering thing - and a jolt to the heart to realize that we may never completely "arrive" this side of heaven in our efforts to be complete followers of Jesus. However, we can continue to try and improve our walk with Christ each and every day of our lives. This is known as sanctification - and it is an ongoing experience that lasts throughout our entire lives!

I thought that Chan's analogy of "the movie of life" being about God and not about us was brilliant! He even goes so far as to state that this "movie" isn't about the great prophets and individuals we all know from the text of the Bible. For me, this is consistent with what Jesus articulated when Martha was complaining that she was doing all the work while Mary just sat at the feet of Jesus listening to his teaching. In Luke 10:42 Jesus said, "...Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." No doubt both women loved Jesus and they were both serving him. It's just that Martha thought that Mary's way was inferior to her own. It brings to mind that sometimes we can be so busy doing things for Jesus that we aren't spending any time with him! The lesson: don't let your service to him become self-serving!

Chan writes, "the point of your life is to point to Him." And this is something that each of us can do in small and big ways throughout our lifetime, in whatever we are doing. We are to give the glory to God because after all, it is He who is worthy! on Sale!

I never liked jazz music because jazz music doesn't resolve. . . . I used to not like God because God didn't resolve. But that was before any of this happened. In Donald Miller's early years, he was vaguely familiar with a distant God. But when he came to know Jesus Christ, he pursued the Christian life with great zeal. Within a few years he had a successful ministry that ultimately left him feeling empty, burned out, and, once again, far away from God. In this intimate, soul-searching account, Miller describes his remarkable journey back to a culturally relevant, infinitely loving God.

±1±: Best Buy An engaging and extremely honest look at what it means to be a follower of Jesus, including some fairly indicting judgments on the Church and Christians in general. Because we don't love and accept others where they are, is it any wonder, they aren't flocking to the church doors? I would highly recommend this book! It is thought provoking and inspiring--one of a handful of books I will certainly re-read. I've ordered copies for friends, too. on Sale!

±1±: Best Buy Faulkner Fitzgerald Hall stumbles into his apartment after staying with family for a few days. Little does he know that his apartment has been commandeered by the long lost niece of his good but deceased buddy.

Rhianna has a delicious dream in which she is being willingly ravished by a god-like male. When she comes awake she discovers she has finally lost her virginty to "Fitz" who thought he was dreaming as well.

Who are these characters and what will happen to them? How could they both claim ownership to the same apartment? Who is the mysterious uncle who Rhianna never met? And will Rhianna, despite Fitz's misgivings, stick to living in Wyoming after living all her life in Detroit?

I loved, loved, loved this book. This characters are so endearing. Fitz is an alpha-male with a real heart. A man who needs to control his woman but with love and kindness because that's "what real men are suppose to do".

Rhianna is my favorite kind of female: sweet and caring, taking her less than perfect earlier life and "dealing" with it. She nurtures rather than recriminates. Neither of these two realize they're falling in love and when they do, it happens naturally, it's that real.

Oh, and it's a very sexy story, too! And a little paranormal, as well! on Sale!

A follow up to the profound message of Crazy Love, Pastor Francis Chan offers a compelling invitation to understand, embrace, and follow the Holy Spirit's direction in our lives. In the name of the Father, the Son, and ... the Holy Spirit. We pray in the name of all three, but how often do we live with an awareness of only the first two? As Jesus ascended into heaven, He promised to send the Holy Spirit--the Helper--so that we could be true and living witnesses for Christ. Unfortunately, today's church has admired the gift but neglected to open it. Breakthrough author Francis Chan rips away paper and bows to get at the true source of the church's power--the Holy Spirit. Chan contends that we've ignored the Spirit for far too long, and we are reaping the disastrous results. Thorough scriptural support and compelling narrative form Chan's invitation to stop and remember the One we've forgotten, the Spirit of the living God.

±1±: Best Buy "The spirit sets us free from the sins we cannot get rid of on our own." ~ pg. 75

When is the last time you prayed to the Holy Spirit? I will admit that I'm one of the people who had almost totally forgotten about the Holy Spirit. In my quest to read the entire Bible I was mostly interested in finding out more about God the Father and Jesus Christ. After reading Francis Chan's Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God I became aware of this book. The truth is that the Holy Spirit may be the forgotten God to a lot of us but He has really been busy in our lives! This book explains how the Holy Spirit works in our lives to perfect us so we can be more like Christ.

Do you wish for more love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control? Then you have selected the right book. While Francis Chan doesn't expand on these qualities he does explain that it is the fruit of the Spirit in our lives.

"Forgotten God" is not charismatic at all. It is very down to earth! Francis Chan mostly explains that the Holy Spirit helps to mold you into the person you are supposed to be. If you are ruled by anger, self-indulgence and immorality you may be grieving the Holy Spirit. Since reading this book I'm now convinced that it is the Holy Spirit who convicts us of sin and perhaps even makes us feel guilty. This is good because eventually we start to hate sin like God does.

Throughout this book I could really respect Francis Chan's honesty, his adventurous spirit and his humbleness. This book made me happy because I realized that while I had obviously been completely ignoring the Holy Spirit He has been working on me all along, changing me from the inside out. I encourage you to read this book and to take the message very seriously. I think you will then be very encouraged and enlightened.

Francis Chan challenges us to leave luke-warmness and cozy christianity and to become whole-hearted followers. It is an important message. The western church has its seminars, mega churches, tv evangelists etc but the persecuted church grows despite not having these things.

However, as others have pointed out, the tension between salvation by grace and the need to serve wholeheartedly always needs to be kept in balance. The call to real christian living does need to be balanced with the knowledge that we're not saved by works.
